first days and dirt bikes

It was a big day for little man Luke! Today he had kindergarten camp. He at first told me he was not going to school today. I told he that was an excellent idea! Because the other kids were going to clean and I can always use more help clean. He promptly declared that he was going to school. It was only for two hours.

We pulled into the parking lot and got out. We walked hand in hand on the front sidewalk. I looked down at his huge smiling face. "How can you be in kindergarten," I asked. I felt my throat catch. Not in front of the child! "Luke, can I carry you and snuggle you one time before you start kindergarten?" He looks at me with that smile and those eyes and says "well, you can carry me but no snuggles!" We laughed.

We when got to sign in, Luke was hiding behind my leg. He got his cute hat and I bent down to tell him goodbye. "Still don't want to come home and help clean?" "No!" he laughed. "Be good." All of the other kids were standing on or at the foot of a staircase. My 5 year old dashed over and began to climb up the handrail. I sighed, waved, smiled, and left. I did see a teacher going over to "help" him down. good luck ya all!

After a very long two hours I went to get him. He jumped up and ran over to me. "School is awesome!" They played a game finding a raccoon, read the kissing hand, and of course had snack. He played with some new friends. No he doesn't know their names. But he also swears he never got in trouble. Score one for today! ;)

I liked this conversation we had on the way home...

Me- "So school was awesome today?"
Luke-"Mom, why don't you let Daddy buy me a dirt bike?" Love his line of thinking here...
Me- "What? Because they are dangerous and fast."
Luke- "Do they have brakes on them?"
Me- "Yes."
Luke- "You know..I know how to use brakes."
***Silence***
Luke- "You aren't going to let me get one are you?"
Me- "No."

One day of kindergarten and he is getting smarter and smarter! ;)

The toothfairy

Here is the deal. My Luke is my hero. My sweet brown eyed boy. He also keeps me stepping. All...the...time. I love this little guy, but sometimes I want to lock him the closet (JUST KIDDING.....mostly) He is a ball full of energy and a very to the point little guy. Sometimes I wonder how is it that he is growing up too fast. He is four, mind you, but sometimes I wonder what is going on in that little head of his.
Hence our dinner conversation...

Rachel- "Ouch! My tooth. My tooth. It hurts."
Will- "Sounds like a loose tooth to me."
Rachel (wailing)- Noooooo. I don't want to loose any of my teeth!
Luke- But if you loose your teeth you get money.
Rachel- I still want to keep my teeth LU-CAS (she has a way of saying his name that impresses even me)

10 minutes later when Luke and I are alone together.
Luke- "Mommy, do you think the tooth fairy is real?"
Me- "What? Of course she is real!"
Luke- "well, I don't think she is real."
Me- "Oh yeah? Then who puts money under your pillow when you loose a tooth?"
Luke- "I think you do."
Me (after 5 seconds of stunned silence) "You are crazy. You don't know what you are talking about."
Luke (laughing and rolling around the floor) "Oh yeah? I think you are crazy."

I was going to ask him what that meant for Santa or the Easter Bunny, but I was afraid of his answer....

This is why God made little boys....

Luke sitting beside me on the bed- "Mommy, I love you. You are so beautiful."
Me- "Thanks Luke!"
Luke- "I wished Daddy didn't already marry you."
Me- "Why is that Luke?"
Luke- "Cause I would marry you then."

My Lucas Scott

Happy 3rd birthday. A little late but hey....

My superhero! My future cage fighter! My sweet brown eyed boy.

You must excuse this blog being a day late. Yesterday I was scrubbing mascara off my boy, cleaning up jelly all over the couch, green tea all over the table (and under the table), smiley stickers on the walls, cabinets, and floor all before 10 a.m. All of this attributed to my baby boy.

My little boy is three. I remember the day he was born. The Dr holding him. His big brown eyes looking straight at me, the first and only child to have his daddy's eyes. I was thinking "wow, here he is." Why hadn't I thought that with the first two? Not sure? But I did with Luke. And wow has he been "here!"

We call him "curious" and "active." He is my "I will try anything" child. Like try to cross the road himself cause "I big mom." He can't sit for an entire meal without standing on his head or making up a musical tune on his plate. He is my "wanna fight?" boy. My ladies stopping us everywhere to comment on how cute he is.

But he is my "I wike (like) you mommy" with a hug. My give me a "huggie." He may be a rough and tumble kind of kid but always loves his momma.

My baby at one....

Lucas Scott

My boy. You turn two today. Two?? I have said to some "when did he turn one?" A boy full of life and mischief. A boy who much rather who suffer the consequences than listen to his mother. A little boy who finally gave us our big brown eyes and his double dimpled cheek. My boy who has to dump cereal all over the floor to find the piece he wants or wants to see if this really will flush. My sweet boy who curls into my lap at night and who always has to ask "what hapeen?" if you are crying. My little morning alarm clock. The joy you bring could never be predicted. We are blessed by your laugh and love. We love you.
